Blind Date Musical Theatre
WHADDAYA MEAN, BLIND DATE?
You don't know what show you're going to see and the cast won't meet until an hour and a half before it starts. Sounds like a blind date, yes?
WILL I SEE THE WHOLE SHOW?
Yes - and no. You will hear the entire script, and all the songs sung to the stellar accompaniment of pianist Jason White. The cast will hold their scripts and scores (although some folks may be "off book" for parts of the show). There's no set and no costuming apart from bits and pieces for fun. Movement among the cast will be largely improvised so you'll see actors following their artistic impulses and making discoveries right before your eyes.
HOW DID YOU ORGANIZE THIS MAYHEM?
Amie Debrone ( last seen on L&F's stage as Mrs. Dickens and also music director for 2017's Charles Dickens Writes A Christmas Carol), and Artistic Director Kathleen Sheehy cast the musical from electronically submitted auditions and swore the cast to secrecy! Cast members study and practice the script and score on their own and will show up shortly before showtime to finally meet and run through a few things together. Then it's "curtain up" and off we go!
NOTE: First United does not allow single use water bottles on the premises.
